~ Dearest Father…

~ Dearest Father
Your death
Left a void
An eternal pause
Beyond the eithers
Beneath the waters deep
Or within the earth you sleep
A void.

~ Counting Quarters

On the corner

She counted quarters

Dropped by compassion,

Perhaps once in her place

Playing a worn out guitar

With talented fingers

And the voice of a song bird

Or perhaps, knowing hunger

Broken dreams, dark despair

Concert beds, cardboard frames

Quarters counted

She struck Denver’s cord

Wishing for a country road

In a over crowed city

To her surprise

Strangers sang along

Tears fell:

So many homeless hearts

Longing to be.

Dedicated to Bethuni and all who have traveled the road of homelessness filled with loneliness.

~ He Sat On The Boardwalk

He sat on the boardwalk

Whistling Sinatra

People passed

Glanced askance

By the perfect pitch

Yet, dying art-

I stood mesmerized

At this optimistic artist

And, ‘That’s Life’

Just when I needed it most!

~ Unparalleled, America ~

~ Unparalleled, America ~

Our country is memory
On this day of observance,
Shock, horror, dismay
Arises as a haunting
Though honoring the dead
Our goal

Relived moments of madness;
Impact, plumes of smoke
A fiery mass enveloping
Impact, extinguished lives
Monuments fall as dominos

Breathes held
Swallowing the horrific scene
The destruction of safety,
The American dream
Threatened by
Cowardly plans of terrorism:

“Too meet ones enemy face to face
On common ground denotes the laws
Of war honored, respected, adhered to”

“United” people of all race
Color and creed
Assemble, take action
For their fellow man
For country
For honor

Amongst the rubble
Streets flooded with tears
Hearts rent asunder
Lives forever silenced
As a Phoenix
American has risen from the ashes
Her strengths unparalleled

The perpetrator
Now passing the bowels
Of feeding fish
Or regurgitated,
Scattered on the oceans floor –

~ Father of Song of Golden Lyre ~

~ Father of Song of Golden Lyre ~

Father of song of golden lyre
Play sweetly
That slumber I may find:

Charmer of all living things
Divine your hymns, divine your strings
Venerated by humankind
Soother of lonely souls that pine

I long this weary body to rest
This cage of cloth to divest
Free and fetal there to lay
Archaic notes, play do play

Pluck your strings thereby coax
Those purest of lulling notes
Pluck oh virtuoso rare!
‘Tis my plea, my fervent prayer

Father of song of golden lyre
Play sweetly
That slumber I may find.
