~ A Poets Stance

~ A Poets Stance
A country divided, no shattered,

Human infrastructure scattered

Like seeds in a whirlwind of discord

So unsettled in our convictions;

We’re as sitting ducks

Making ourselves targets

Of our countries enemies
Shores away, scoffed at, laughed at

Toppled off our dias of world power

By political inadequacies, conspiracies, lies…

Those who speak truth ostracized –

People fear truth for what it is

What transformations it can produce –

He or she who speaks truth stands alone…
So split is the “land of the free, home of the brave”

That “we the people” are like free range cattle

Walking through our lives, fearful of the eminent stampede

A stampede of brother against brother, against big brother…

Leaderless, honor and integrity slipped through the cracks years ago
Rash decisions made in the wake of recent events

Increased disharmony, discord in attempts to sweep history

under the rug…

And the victors chant in jubilation, the defeated determined, division increases daily

And we are once again brother against brother, holding our breathes, knowing…
The big picture evolves; some close their eyes to reality

The reality, that, “we the people” have weakened our country from within

So engrossed are we with fighting each other, battling for the one up, we are sitting ducks unaware of our true enemies…

And a poet predicts chaos around the corner, a corner conceived by our world stage presentation… A country divided cannot stand…God have mercy on this land!

~ Charleston’s Mother

~ Charleston’s Mother
Steeped in tradition

A foundation built on defiance

Rock by rock, stone, by stone

Blood, sweat and tears

A people pulling together

Uniting in the quest of equality

The chalice of their dreams
Burnt, but not destroyed

Faith and perseverance

Raised the walls, bar higher

And the congregation sang

The songs of their forefathers

Once shackled in Americas greatest shame

Greatest injustice to humanity

And still, they sang
Charleston’s Mother violated

Hatred filled the crazed barrel

In the hands of pure evil

Lives lost, hearts broken

And a nation stands aghast

Once again on the world’s stage

Where uncontrollable rage reigned
Heads bowed in prayer

Souls searching for solace

Supposed safety in the house of God

Where all Hell breaks loose;

The Devil in disguise

With a revolver full of hatred

Changes, once again, peoples lives
Their strength, will, tested

Again they’ll rise, defiant

One prayer at a time;

Charleston’s Mother standing strong

Steeped in tradition, faith, praise and song
And God, being respector of none

Will here their cries, begging, pleading

And being colorblind, he hears but does not see

As humans do, in their base beliefs of inequality:

Oh Mother! Oh Mother!

Let your bells ring throughout our lands

Resounding as a prayer for all humans!

~ A Fathers Arrival ~

~ Return of the Patriot ~

One on her hip
One held her hand
One stood taller
As if now in command

Waving a husband,
A beloved Daddy away
With tearful good-byes,
As a wife stands to pray

The sun caught golden buttons
He appeared god-like –
Through the eyes of his children
The eyes of his wife

Months later, sleepless nights
Lil guys void of guidance
There fathers protection
Displayed in a land of violence

Tap, tap, tap
Comes a knock at the door…
An American custom
From wars before…

A tipped hat, brown envelope
A family dismayed, a family broke
Tears stain, blur the lines
Of condolences scripted, wrote

One on her hip
One held her hand
One stood taller
As if now in command

As the red, the white, the blue
Lives on
Though so many Hero’s
Gone…gone…gone.

~ Worldly Hell ~

~ Worldly Hell ~

Some cry “Apocalypse!”
The Alpha of the Omega
As current events spiral
Spiritual leaders stand aghast
They are a ‘cry in the wilderness’
In desperation diligently
Searching scripted pages
For obscure answers
Frantic to uncover direction
To glean between the lines
Solutions

Wisdom waning
Power corrupts
Casts a shadow, a dark shadow
Over the whole of humanity
The innocent caught in the crossfire
Of hate
Violated the laws of war
Atrocities rise as souls ascend
And I imagine “the God of Gods”
Weeping with regret

Some cry “Apocalypse!”
As history recalls
The rise and fall of nations
Civilizations
‘And there is nothing new under the sun’
Or peace would prevail
Not this worldly hell!
