~ Silence ( A Personification )

~ Silenced ( A Personification)

I am the voice
silenced by war
by drive by shootings
by evil intent
the innocent
a child, mer babe
my life taken
robbed of my future
by bombs crashing
devastation, distraction in their wake
by turbulent gangs
their shoots scattering helter skelter
by the driver out of control
road rage in a pistol
by the parent who was to love me
bagged, left to rot in a suitcase, a lake

I am the world’s children
a child with our understanding
a child void of hate
void of evil intent
my God, my Creator
intended my innocence birthing happiness

I breathe no more
hold no future
no memories
no aspirations
for what could have been
a tiny victim, helpless…
Death was an Angel
the pain stopped
from the grave
must come purpose,
an avenger must arise
holding accountable
those who took the life light
from a childs unknowing eyes

Eyes that once held purpose
dreams that no longer have a chance
a chance to reach a destination, goals
think you, a child cannot birth a dream?
it was child dreamers most successful
but, I, I breathe no more
my dreams died with me

Adults, those were taught to RESPECT
battle for supremeacy, domination
care not for little souls caught in their ideologies
their anger, their evil, wicked souls –
our deaths brought about by wars with many names;
wars that rage in the core of their being

They show little, or no empathy, compassion
for our deaths, our stolen futures
oh! that we had the ability to rise
as children crusaders
hell would pale in comparison
to the Justice we’ve been denied
the Justice we’d inflict
and the peace we’d bring
conforming harden hearts
to the childlike innocence of love

Hate holds this world
greed grips it tighter and tighter
two ingredients destroying life
life, of the children, caught in the cross-fires
as our God gathers us one, by one
looking down with disgust
at his creation; man[kind]…

Our parents, family members mourn
outrage surges through blood and vein
strangers weep for the loss of little ones
little ones, without a chance against
the wars with many names;
daily we are welcomed in the arms of our God.

~ The Immigrant Child – A Personification

~ The Immigrant Child – A Personification~ The Immigrant Child – A Personification

My language not your own

My skin not of your colour

But all have eyes;

These shed rivers of tears

They’ve seen much –

What some call horror stories

Of blood, body parts, heads and hands
I fear closing my eyes

The images invade… as did the bombs

Exploding in my sleepless nights;

I am but a child

On the run, fearful every step

No time for toys, play

Surviving one day at a time

One breath at a time
My family torn apart

My sisters parts amongst the rubble –

We blessed, left her there and ran

We keep running

Crossing border after border

Fatigued, hungry, thirsty
Those with ice cold hearts

Halt our progress

Our Exodus,

We are corralled as cattle

Probed with black rods

Pushed in our place,

A smoke stings my eyes

Like a thousand needles

Chokes my throat

Like strong hands gripping…

My brother never stops crying
My parents faces aged

Lined with fears, disbelief

All are judged by a religious preference

All are deemed bad!

Bad is not good!

They hurt you;

I hide within my Mothers skirt
Some here, in these “camps”

Scream for justice

To cross the border,

We here boats of people drowned

Cry for our families route

The child pushed ashore

Facedown, lifeless…
I am but a child

As many others here

Must this forced migration be so severe?

The winds now roll upon us

The rains soak our skin;

Step into mine

You’ll find where I leave off

You begin…
Humanity in crisis

A cry in the wilderness

And no ones listening!

The burden blood stained

Tear stained –

My sister left beneath the rubble

Still clings to my clothes…
In the name of humanity

In the name of the countless children

The ones waiting in the womb

Let there be mercy, somewhere, somehow.

~ Voiced with True Conviction ~

I am the voice amongst chaos crying out
My voice rises to a high pitch
In order to drown out the obscurity
Of a generation under the delusional trained thought
That the world owes them something
That they are set apart from the
Trials and tribulations of climbing
That proverbial “ladder of success”

I am the voice of ages past
Where a hard days work
Seventy-five cents was placed in the palm
And you smiled with pride
Knowing “hard work, reaps great rewards”
The thought you were ‘owed’ something
Never entered the mind…
You worked, or you went without

I am the voice speaking to our current scholars
Higher education is no guarantee of success
Unless you too put it to work for you
All the framed degrees on the wall
Are but dust collectors unless you accept the fact
They don’t ‘work’, they don’t have or need ambition
Goals, skills, ethics, again, ambition
They are just innate objects of suggestion…

And in my voice I declare with true conviction
There is no job beneath you where survival is concerned
And there is no job coming to find you
So why your headed up the “proverbial ladder of success”
Remember, we all started at the bottom
Some of us at seventy-five cents a day
Holding a sense of pride in the palm of our hands!

~ From the Poetess – Thank-you ~

Dear followers on

This is a long overdue “thank-you” for reading and commenting on “The Works of A. L. O’Prunty”. There are days, when the only outlet I have is putting pen to page, thereby, releasing the mindset of the poet. And, as any poet knows, the mind is both a pleasant and dangerous place to linger..yet always, insightful.

A good day to all,

~ A Place to Sit ~ (Personification)

I’ve been here
Long before scholarly dated
Before people, like ants
Tunneled through
Breaking sacred silence
Scattering fossilized remains
Disturbing the dead;
Yet they were dead
Dead to beauty
Dead to the carnival of colour
The cadence of first creatures song
The bounty before misguided eyes –
Here, have ‘A Place to Sit’
Observe venerable vistas
Raised to the ground
Like ants, they go
And round
These champions of progress.

~ The Mind of the Poet ~ (A Personification)

~ The Mind of the Poet ~ (A Personification)

I am that bare branch

I am the lone bird

Gracefully singing

Wanting to be heard

I am that still stream

I am the fathomless

Plunging deeper

Into subconsciousness

I am that broken heart

I am the laden beat

Diligent, determined

Admitting not defeat

I am all and nothing

Nothing and all;

Blessed be the poet

Cursed before the fall…
