~ A Joyful Song

~ A Joyful Song
I woke a Joyful Song resounding

Throughout hill and dale

Sweeping, sweeping, sweeping

Sweeping down the vale
Pristine lay Winters first snow

All was pure and white,

I sensed a spiritual power

The brilliance was so bright
The melody grew higher

Birds on bare branch perched,

I wondered in my wandering

Does Nature have a church?
For each creature great and small

Halted in their tracks,

To listen to the melody

As if each word was facts
They stood as if transfixed

From a memory of long ago,

When Nature was believed

To birth the pristine snow
She, once Mother Goddess

She, once blessed on high

Conjured, and her people

Yet some still hear her sigh…
Her dancers for all seasons

‘Neath the birch the oak

Know the Joyful Song

Derive from the ancient

Words she spoke.

~ The End?

~ The End. ~
Speak not of love and longing

Nevermore this heart to comply

Your essence was so fleeting

Now, how the years have passed by
In youth you were the fairytale –

Oh! How young hearts were deceived!

The knight, the maid in waiting

Dreams that became nightmares grieved
Speak not of love and longing

Nights are now a peaceful repose

Wrapped in words and wonderment

Drowsy these eyes, the book does close.

~ Nightingale

The nightingale lamenting
Sings a sorrowful song

Of hearts battered, broken

When Love has gone so wrong

He sings as if to know

The ache in every soul

Forlorn and longing

For what once made them whole
Yet, in his lament –

A true love is never spent

~ Springtimes Secret Song

~ Springtimes Secret Song

In glorious jubilation
Peeps are singing
Their secret song,

The babbling brooks
Accompanying
With water notes
Soft, then strong

A whisper through the trees
Joins the springtide chorus
The magic in their melody
Soon to rise before us

Creatures of the night
Halt as if in awe
Knowing the song of spring,
Denotes the thrill of winters thaw

Natures melodious enchantment
Has bid the bud to bloom
The crocus and the daffodil
Are spotlighted by the moon!

Here upon the bank
I listen, watch and learn
As all creatures great and small
It’s springtime that I yearn:

In glorious jubilation
Peeps are singing
Their secret song

The babbling brooks
Accompanying
With water notes
Soft, then strong.
