~ Mighty Mississippi

~
When the Mississippi rages;

Yes, the willows weep
Pushing at her banks

Tributaries rush, not creep
And oh! The devastation

Left in her roaring wake
Her force forever changing

Lives, families that she takes
She spews upon landmasses

Northern parts to southern shore
Reaches east and west

Pushing, pulling all in store
Swallowing; large her mouth –

When the raging Mississippi
Hungry, rushes south.
