~ Mother

~ Mother

She lost her days
Her nights
And words tumbled
From her lips
Out of sequence
But her eyes,
Her beautiful eyes
Spoke volumes:
They say
The soul resides there –
In the eyes
A born artist
She brightened our world
With color
Fabrics, textiles
Geometrically stitched;
Warmth on cold winter nights
We wrapped ourselves
In handmade quilts
As if wrapped in her arms:
Her stitches of love
Held us together
Without her
Life has unraveled
In the color of sorrow
All that remains are threads.
