~ If ~

~ If ~

If you were here…
Today, we’d be
Surprising you with flowers
Songs sung over the line
Well wishes and hugs,
Knocking at your door
Arms loaded with gifts
And you, acting surprised

If you were here
Dinner would be on us
Being served as a queen
Dressed up in your
Unique style
Smelling of rose water
Beauty without paint
Natural, real

If you were here
You’d be giggling
With that youthful laugh
That never left you
As we sang ” Happy Birthday”

I hope the angels learned
That song
And your having
A heavenly birthday, Mother:

There gain, has been
Our greatest loss

Dedicated to my Mother.
