~ Rocking Recliners ~

~ Rocking Recliners ~

Side by side sat rocking recliners
Symbolic of life’s latest stage
Purchased after the sixth child
Fled the nest, flew the coop
Freed up the finances

But always, they were side by side
Always, they had held hands
Given sudden pecks on the cheek
A tickle here and there
Laughing at inside, private jokes

They had aged, but their love was ageless
Love light continued to shine in their eyes
With a youthful glow of expectation;
So compatible, even their rocking recliners
Were as one, in unison, keeping perfect rhythm:

One recliner remains, father rocks there alone
Reliving the memories of a lifetime
Til God, too, calls him home.
