~ In These Greying Years ~

~ In These Greying Years ~

I reminisce of that first kiss
My first, my last taste of bliss-
Green apple candy cane-

While walking down a country lane
One summer day hot and hazy
Holding a prized wilting daisy

Skipping, singing all the way home
Where I could ponder all alone;
The flower I thought to enshrine:

Still, pressed between the lines
Sonnet one sixteen defines-

The summer my soul sang.
