~ First Chill ~ freeverse

~ First Chill ~ freeverse

Lonely was too lonely
A stroll through the park
Intensified the loneliness
Where have all the flowers gone?
The people in vibrant hues
Walking one by one
Two by two’s

Where have all the flowers gone?

Eyes drowning in love light
Dreams on the cusp of fruition
The youth, the ageless
The cry of the newborn
The toddlers laughter
Running thereafter
To futures bright

These, these lively flowers
Rooted in possibility
Now go unseen
And I wonder
Is this bench lonely
As I am
Neath winters first chill?
