~ Skipping Rocks ~

~ Skipping Rocks ~

By the river slow and lazy
On a summer day
Hot and hazy
Together, we skipped
Hand in hand
Sisters, sun kissed
And tanned

Gathering a rock or two
Across the river
Each one threw
Mine bounced off
The river bank
Into the water there it sank

Yours sliced threw and threw
Skipping rocks did ensue
Watching, I counted each skip
As they left your finger tip
Realizing my hands were yet to small
Focused on yours I was in awe

A new adventure caught our eye
So off we went, you and I
Skipping hand in hand so long ago
Along the banks of the Pestago.
