~ Sea Salt Siren ~

~ Sea Salt Siren ~

Beneath the misty moonlight glow
She walks about to and fro
Sea salt spray about her hair
Sings as if there’s someone there

She seems the waves to lul asleep
With secret songs all sirens keep
Enchantment in the lines she sings
To ancient sailors watered dreams

Fathomless waters seem to adhere
Rising ghostly figures appear
They’ve come to hear the siren sing
Of journeys that dried their own life spring

The sea has always her secrets held
Such lovely vocals she was compelled
To still her heart her wild waves crashing
Calm the whitecaps lifting, lashing

And she whose voice calmed the sea
Vanished mysteriously
Slipped beneath the waters calm
A succor of sea salt her final balm

Beneath the misty moonlight glow
She walked about to and fro
Sea salt spray about her hair
Sang as if there’s someone there.
