~ After the Spring Rains ~

~ After the Spring Rains ~

Each year
After the spring rains
And the verdant vales
Are splashed with color
Permeated with intoxicating scent,
You burst your coffined cacoon…
Fluttering on wafting winds
Alighting on finger tips
Ask if a kiss bestowed
Lightens the heart
Lifts the spirit,
You, you beauty void of rival
Yellow winged bound in black
You Monarch of mystery
By freeing yourself
Oh! How you free me!

  1. This is indeed a freeing tribute to the flowers that fly. There is magic with the sight of the first butterfly of spring.
